Test mastering is a low-risk way to have your song mix processed by a professional mastering engineer before booking the final mastering. You send in your unfinished mix and receive a professionally mastered sample of your song back – this way you can hear the sonic difference and assess the final quality before making a decision. At Peak-Studios, test mastering is genuine studio mastering done by hand (no AI tools) and costs a one-time fee of €10 – with no obligation.
Here's how to prepare your mix for test mastering.
- File format: Export your mix uncompressed as WAV or AIFF (not MP3).
- Quality: At least 44,1 kHz and 24 bits.

You upload your mix using our upload form and select "Test Mastering." Within 3-7 business days, you will receive an analog mastered sample of the song for evaluation of loudness, tonality, and transient response.
How much does test mastering cost?
Test mastering costs a flat fee of €10. There are no further fees or subscriptions. This version is solely for preliminary evaluation and is an independent, standalone service.
What is processed during test mastering?
The excerpt of your song will be professionally mastered – including analog signal processing, loudness adjustment (e.g., for streaming, CD, or vinyl), equalization, and dynamic control. The goal is a realistic impression of the final sound.
How long is the test mastering?
The trial version typically contains the loudest or most dynamic part of your song (e.g., the chorus) and lasts approximately 60–120 seconds. A full version is available upon separate request.
Can I request changes?
Yes. You are welcome to give us feedback after the test mastering. We will then discuss whether and how the final mastering should be adjusted – for example, in terms of loudness, punch, or stereo width.
