What is test mastering?
Test mastering is a low-risk way to have your song mix processed by a professional mastering engineer before booking the final mastering. You send in your unfinished mix and receive a professionally mastered sample of your song back – this way you can hear the sonic difference and assess the final quality before making a decision. At Peak-Studios, test mastering is genuine studio mastering done by hand (no AI tools) and costs a one-time fee of €10 – with no obligation.

Frequently asked questions about test mastering
What is test mastering?
Test mastering is a cost-effective way to have your finished track professionally mastered before committing to a full master. You’ll receive a fully mastered excerpt of your song to compare the sound quality with the studio result.
How does test mastering work at Peak-Studios?
You upload your mix via our upload form and select “Test Mastering.” Within 3–7 business days, you’ll receive an analog-mastered excerpt of your track to evaluate loudness, tonal balance and transient response.
How much does test mastering cost?
Test mastering costs a flat rate of €10. There are no additional fees or subscriptions. This version is intended solely for preliminary evaluation and is offered as an independent, stand-alone service.
What is processed during test mastering?
The excerpt of your song is professionally mastered — including analog signal processing, loudness optimisation (e.g., for streaming, CD or vinyl), equalisation and dynamic control. The goal is to provide a realistic impression of the final sound.
How long is the test mastering?
The test master typically includes the loudest or most dynamic section of your song (e.g., the chorus) and lasts around 60–120 seconds. A full version can be provided upon separate request.
Can I request changes?
Yes. You’re welcome to give us feedback after the test mastering. We’ll then discuss whether and how the final mastering should be adjusted — for example in terms of loudness, punch or stereo width.
