THE HONEST REST - GONE FOREVER

The Honest Rest come back into the focus of listeners with their new release "Gone Forever". In our interview you will learn the background of the new record.

IMAGINE: WHERE ARE YOU FROM AND HOW WAS YOUR BAND MADE?

We come from Berlin, even if our singer Dirk doesn't live in Berlin. Otherwise, the rest of us live in Berlin - the longest way to get to the rehearsal is probably our drummer Ricardo, who needs a good hour in the car to rehearse.

How did we come about now? André and Phil got to know each other early on, after André, as a trained sound engineer, was only supposed to properly set up the mixer in the rehearsal room of Phil's band at the time. His guitar skills then ensured that he showed up for the next rehearsal and that the first real line-up developed from it. But this did not stay stable for long and when Phil met his brother Marco at a birthday party and invited him to the next rehearsal, he was unceremoniously hired as a drummer, although he was actually also a guitarist. After a few changes in the line-up and the move to a new rehearsal room, the search for a singer began in autumn 2018. That's how we found Dirk and the cast was complete for the first time. Marco has now switched from drums to rhythm guitar and Ricardo has orphaned Drum stool taken. Here we are !

HOW DID YOU GET YOUR BANDNAME?

That arose from the history of the band's origins. At some point there were only André, Marco and Phil left - basically the "rest". Since “The Rest” already existed as a band name, we decided on “The Honest Rest”.

HOW ARE YOUR SONGS CREATED? IS THERE A FIXED PROCEDURE?

So far it has been the case that André basically presents completely composed songs. It's unbelievable how creative the man is! Dirk then grabs the instrumental tracks and writes the vocal melodies and lyrics.

But we also want to try to create songs as a joint project. Sometimes really cool things come up while jamming and trying things out, which we then pursue. With Marco on the rhythm guitar and Ricardo on the drums, some completely new facets are revealed and we are really excited to see where our musical journey will lead.

HOW DO YOU RECORD YOUR SONGS?

We recorded both EPs in the rehearsal room, which was sometimes not without the hurdles because there are countless rehearsal rooms in the building and the necessary quiet is rarely there. The mixing and Editing André then takes over in his Home studio and for that mastering we work closely with Chris Jones zusammen.

YOU HAVE RELEASED THE SECOND EP NOW. WHAT'S GOING FORWARD?

First of all, we really want to play a lot more live. That went through the recordings, various Video shoots and the line-up changes a little under.

Also, there are considerations, next year one complete Publish album. New songs are already in the works.

WHAT MAKE YOU AS A BAND?

We just enjoy what we do and the people who stand in front of the stage or who visit us during rehearsals notice that too. We are five guys who respect each other and we want to have itto make good, own music together.

WHAT DO YOU WISH FOR THE FUTURE?

Fortune and fame! No, kidding aside: we want to continue to pack the fun we have in our music in good songs and hope that we will reach a lot of people with it. Be it live or through our publications. Preferably at concerts, of course, because what is GEasier than presenting your songs live in front of an audience?
